At the end of 2019, novel coronavirus swept the globe and became a public health emergencies of global common concern. It is an important embodiment of governments’ responsibility to strengthen the global cooperation of novel coronavirus prevention and promote the construction of a community of human common density. For taking full advantage of the main channel of non-governmental international science and technology exchange, actively participating in international academic exchanges on novel coronavirus prevention and control and sharing research results with worldwide peers so as to improve the ability of human beings to cope with the challenges of major epidemic, China Association for Science and Technology establishes a strategic cooperative mechanism with Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Karolinska Institute, University of Gothenburg in Sweden and other institutes. It will promote the technological and cultural communication through collaborative implementation of Chinese and Swedish outstanding scientists exchange program and Chinese and Swedish postdoctoral (young scientists) exchange program.

This conference aims to build China-Sweden novel coronavirus pneumonia joint action plan, mobilize scientists from multidisciplinary fields in both countries so as to jointly promote scientific research cooperation in traceability, drugs, vaccines and testing, share scientific research data and information, and work out effective strategies to deal with major infectious diseases. For building a new platform for science and technology exchanges and cooperation of epidemic prevention between China and Sweden, the conference is to promote academic exchanges without borders, discrimination and obstacles and further expand the cooperative mechanism between Chinese and European scientist in the field of public health.
